Se7en film review

Se7en is a mystery thriller film about two detectives Mills (Brad Pitt) and Somerset (Morgan Freeman) Somerset is about to retire and Mills is a new detective that has recently transferred. Their case is to find a serial killer that brutally murders seven people using the seven deadly sins, gluttony, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy and wrath. 

Se7en is one if the most brutal and horrific films I have seen. It is also incredibly written and thought out. The writing makes you feel for both Somerset and Mills but also I understood why John Doe (Kevin Spacey) murdered the people the way he did. 

Brad Pitt plays a young detective that is very eager and impatient and wants answers straight away. However Freeman plays a much more laid back detective that is patient and awaits the answers. Although starts to get frustrated towards the end of the case. Both characters are played very well. I think that even though he is not in it for very long Spacey plays John Doe incredibly well. I am not a huge fan if Brad Pitt but I very much enjoyed him in this film, Keving spacey is one of my favourite actors and he was superb. So was Morgan Freeman. 

The idea behind the murders is fantastic and the ending is very good. I think the idea of John Doe turning himself in after killing Mills' wife and child just to finish his murders is brilliant. Also John Doe knows Mills' will kill him when he finds out which he does. The murders are planned out very methodically and the idea of the killer is very clear. 

I love this film, I don't personally think it has any flaws and would rate it a 9/10, this is one of my favourite movies of all time and one that you need to see.
